(11/07/2022)

Hola everyone!!

I am here in Bonao, and it's very interesting! It gets a little cold here at night, so that has been fun. And we are close to the mountains, and they are SO green!

At church on Sunday, we sang "How Great Thou Art," and I really enjoyed it! I love how it says, "Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to thee, how great thou art." In Spanish it says, "Gran eres tĂș." I just love it lol. I love that when we are close to God, we can feel pure joy in our souls. Remember that God loves you and knows you personally!!

No Hay Tiempo (10/31/2022)

Hello all!

This is going to be very short because I am going to a new area! I am still going to be with a Dominica, and we are white washing an area! (This means that both of them are new to the area.) I am finally leaving Santiago. I'm very sad. I wanted to go to the other Santiago areas, but I am going to the countryside! I hope that we have hot water because I heard that it does get a little chilly in the mornings! I love you all and hope that you can see God's hand in your life.

Love,

Hermana Locey

Short and Sweet (10/17/2022)

Hello everyone!

This transfer has been so crazy but lots of fun. My comp and I are in charge of social media posts, and it has been odd but really fun. We have had so much rain on Mondays, and it is a bummer lol. It is always when we aren't in the house and we have no umbrella. But I like the rain! The Dominicans are scared of it tho. But I hope you all know I'm alive and love youuuuu.

So Long to only Americans! (09/19/2022)

Hola all!!

It was the last week of the transfer here, and we got news last night that Hermana Hutchings is going to Puerto Plata! I'm staying here in Los Jardines, and I'm getting Hermana Silverio! My first Dominican!!

But in other news, it was Hermana Hutchings birthday yesterday! We and all the other missionaries have been on house arrest since Sunday because we have a hurricane wooo!! Santiago is in the middle of the country so all we have is rain right now, but time will tell. It's been fun, but do pray for everyone else because they have more than just a little rain.

On another note, we visited an inactive member, and there was a literal tarantula on her wall. I almost cried during the lesson. I'm not sure how you kill something that big. Lots of prayers were said, and it didn't attack us lol.

A different member is very excited for the rain, and she has been praying for a big storm. When we visited, she was preparing for her prayers to be answered. So learn from her! Prepare for your prayers to be answered!!!

Oh and listen to Master, the Tempest Is Raging lol.

I love you allllllll

We are horrible at taking pictures so sorry for the lack of them. So enjoy this screenshot from a member! I will now be going as Hermana Rosy. (We still teach the English Connect class lol.)

Another Week in the Gardens (09/12/2022)

This week has been a bit slower because I have been sick, but it still has been lots of fun!

We had interviews with President on Friday, but we thought that it was on Wednesday and so we showed up to the wrong church at the wrong time lol. But we had interviews on Friday, and they were lots of fun!

I got to see some of the other missionaries that I haven't seen in a while!

This week we have seen lots of miracles with the Book of Mormon. The Book of Mormon can change lives and help a person grow closer to God and Jesus, so I hope that you all can read a bit more in the little blue book from God!!

Lots of love, Hermana Locey

Mom's note: No pictures this week. She is serving in Los Jardines, which means the gardens. She was sick for about four weeks. The mission president's wife had her tested for Dengue after about three weeks. She tested negative, and they said she had some other "unnamed, tropical virus." I think one of the reasons she was sick for so long is that they kept their same missionary pace and she wasn't able to get the rest she needed to get better.

Another week(s) in the DR (09/05/2022)

Hello all!

Sorry I haven't written in a long time, but I am still alive! It is still hot here, but some days we have nice breezes that are cold! Those are fun.

We sometimes get rain without any clouds above us, and we sometimes hear big thunder rumblies with blue skies as well. It is always exciting to see what weather we will get haha.

We have been able to see more miracles in our lives! The first is that I finally got sick, but it was only a cold and not from other circumstances. Like when one of our friends made us tea from things in their garden, and there was still dirt on it! It was pretty good though, I have to say.

And for all of you who are wondering, yes I did get to eat a donut for my birthday! I also ate cake. Not on my birthday, but the whole week haha.

We are still teaching our English Connect class, and it has been fun to see them become friends with us lol. They are a very shy bunch, but we will get them to love us one day!!

I want to invite you all to share something nice with someone this week! Either a fun song, a story, Jesus, anything. It will be fun! I promise lol.

Enjoy the little things of life and know that I love all of you!!

Short and Sweet (08/15/2022)

Here are some highlights:

Transfers happened, and we are still together!

Plantado 1 Hermana Locey 0

Today we had an Uber that played some English music. They played Blinding Lights, and Hermana Hutchings asked, "Is this Harry Styles?" No.

We started teaching English Connect! We have no idea what we are doing lol, but we got a class photo minus one because he doesn't like photos. We will get him in one someday lol.

I am reading the Old Testament, and some of it is boring but other parts are pure gold! Here is Samuel describing David! He is known for his faith in God, and that he has his spirit with himself! Yay. He kills the giant and is the same David who becomes king and Jesus is a descendent of. Yay Jesus!!

1 Samuel 16:12

"And he sent, and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, and withal of a beautiful countenance, and goodly to look to. And the Lord said, Arise, anoint him: for this is he."

"Y era rubio, de ojos hermosos y de buen parecer."

Love y'all!
