Lluviaaaa (01/16/2023)

We were told we can't take the little boat to cross the gross, smelly river because it had rained all day and the river would flip the boat over and we would all go swimming. Grateful for the advice but bummed that we couldn't go swimming on accident. lol

I got to paint a fence this week on a limb, and I am very happy. The members played us music and played us some English music for our help. So we listened to the Cha Cha Slide and the YMCA.

We had visitors in the ward on Sunday, and one lady sang "How Great Thou Art"! It was so fun to hear this song again. I keep hearing it on the mission, and it was really great. We had so many miracles on Sunday, and to hear her sing "How Great Thou Art" made me so happy! It's true! God is great!!

Love y'all,

Four Comps in One Day (01/09/2023)

Heyyyy

My comp, Hermana Santiago, finished her mission on Tuesday, so I dropped her off at the bus and got one of the other hermanas for a few hours while I waited for my two new comps! My first triooooo. Then the house elders dropped them off, and it was wild.

I have Hermana Gòmez and Hermana Ponczoch. They are amazinggggg. It's been a bit wild because I've been here only three weeks, but we're going good? Hahah I keep getting asked if I'm lost. The answer is not yet; I'm waiting for the Spirit to tell me where to go. It's worked out pretty well.

We visited a member, and I saw a picture of their grandson, and I realized that he's a member from my old area. Wild.

One of our friends drew pictures of all three of us, and it's so cute!! She's getting ready to get baptized, and it's amazing to see her reading the Book of Mormon and coming to church. It's really beautiful.

Love you all,

Hermana Locey

Feliz Año Nuevo (01/02/2023)

Hey everyone!!

Welcome to 2023! I found out that they celebrate New Year more than Christmas here. So all of the 31st and the 1st have been one big loud party. When we woke up for church, we heard cars blasting music at 6:30am. haha

Our buddy got baptized on Wednesday!! His mom's boss and family came from Utah to celebrate and be here, and it was super amazing! It was very odd to talk with white people again haha.

I did an exchange, and it was 10/10 wonderful.

I got to hold a puppy. So cute. I love her even though she peed on me and I had to continue the night with a pee dress. haha

I hope you all have wonderful goals set this year to become more like Christ!

I love y'all!!

Merry Late Christmas! (12/26/2022)

Holisss

I can't remember what I said before, but I'm now in Puerto Plata! We have an Uber driver we call, and he's the best lol. He's going to be baptized in a few weeks, but he's being taught by the other hermanas. We don't use the Uber app here, just taxis.

We also sometimes get to use little boats to cross a really smelly river to avoid a big road. We have only used it once so far because we had to yell to try and get someone to bring the boat over, and then when they did the guy who pulled it over left. But then some other dudes came and pulled us across haha. My comp doesn't know how to swim, so she just clings on to me and her old comp when we cross.

We had a mission-wide dinner and activity on Tuesday and Wednesday, and it was so fun to be able to see almost all of my comps again. We also got invited to eat dinner at a member's house on the 24th! Wheeee

I hope you all enjoyed this Christmas season in the cold or in the heat, and that now it's over that you can still remember Jesus everyday! Every time you have leftovers and use your presents, think of Jesus.

Send Me Cooling Vibes ha (12/12/2022)

Hellllooooo

I am being transferred to Puerto Plata!! Yayay I am going to the hottest part of the mission from one of the coolest. Yikes.

But on Sunday, we tried to bust our friend out of jail, and by that I mean we sat in the cement building on a bench for about an hour asking the police to ask him what we can do to help. It was exciting because everyone was very shocked to see a white girl there haha. We didn't bust him out of jail, but we pray that he can get out because he wants to be baptized. [Their friend was brought in for immigration and not for any crimes.]

But on a side note, I miss the English hymn "I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day." I think, I hope I am fact checked on this lol, that it was written by a guy and his wife and kid died on or around Christmas and he says that there is no hope or joy in the world. But then he learns about the gospel or something like that and finds out that he can see his family after death thanks to Jesus and he then has another change of heart and is like WOW there really is joy in Jesus. I think it's a great song lol. Go listen to it. ["On Friday, December 25, 1863, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow--a 57-year-old widowed father of six children, the oldest of which had been nearly paralyzed as his country fought a war against itself-—wrote a poem seeking to capture the dynamic and dissonance in his own heart and the world he observes around him that Christmas Day." Read more here. I like Bug's version better!]

We also see people riding horses in the streets and people leading horses along on motorcycles. I think it's great. haha

I love you all and hope that you have fun with the snow!

No Snow (12/05/2022)

I keep thinking that there's going to be snow or it will get cold here, and it won't haha. We did decorate the church with a tree and empty boxes wrapped in paper haha. We don't have a ton of time today, but I hope that you are all enjoying the cold and the snow!

I love you all!

Zone Conference wheee (11/21/2022)

We live on the second floor of a house. Our apartment house is right next to another house, also with two levels. These houses are about one foot away from each other lol. We can hear them cooking in the mornings when we're in our bedroom, and this week I think one of them is sick lol. I have heard one of them throw up at least once. Maybe three times. I can't tell if it is that or them brushing their teeth.

I just realized that we had a zone conference this week. It was in La Vega, and it took an hour and 20 minutes of walking to get to a bus to ride it for an hour to randomly bump into elders who let us take their Uber with them for 20 more minutes to get there. It was a long morning haha. But it was lots of fun.

We learned more about the Book of Mormon and how we need to be personally converted. So y'all read the blue book and pray. Life's better with it.

Love y'all!
